Thank you Zena... it's one of those things that one day dawn on you, you try it and it works! It's a pleasure to share it :-)
Have you seen the other pattern I made with this system? All related posts are here: http://kuki.deprada.net/?cat=43

I've made paper patterns before but never considered covering a shape with tape - brilliant! Stupid I didn't think of it for myself, I made a dress form once by covering myself with tape (over cheesecloth) and that worked. Thank you very much for sharing.

Hi Cristina, here is the turban made up in taffeta, no tassels. Thanks so much for the fun project! :)

notes: I cut the visor 5 cm deep, using 1.25 cm seam- finished visor depth approx. 3.5 cm deep. I interfaced it with a heavy pellon. Since the taffeta is crisp I did not add interfacing.

A wonderful tutorial, and what an excellent result of your project! I am searching for a supplier of the type of interfacing you used to shape the brim. Does the one you used have a particular name?

Good job Cristina! Now, this proves that Sinamay is not just for making beautiful Sinamay bags but also beautiful fascinator. That exactly what you are all teaching me ladies. I think everyone did a great job on making their fascinating Sinamay fascinator.

Hi,
I suspect they are made like dressmakers forms, with a papier mache base, then covered in watting and cloth. You can pin through the cloth but not through the hard material under. Its for working not display. You can drape turbans on it, and generally work on smaller hats comfortably.
Making one? Well I have not tried, I must be easier than building a television from scratch but still it does not seem like something you can easily make. Better get a new one from Stockman, pricey but worth it!
